Luther Burbank Garden Club
The club’s mission centers on fostering awareness of the vital role gardens play in environmental health, biodiversity, and community well-being. Through educational programs, civic beautification projects, and community outreach, the Luther Burbank Garden Club supports efforts that preserve natural beauty and inspire sustainable practices.
Open to garden enthusiasts of all experience levels, the club provides opportunities for members to learn, share knowledge, and participate in projects that enhance both private and public landscapes.
Notable Activities: Historically famed for transforming Yonkers’ landscape – nearly 90 years ago the club planted memorial cherry trees along the Rumsey Road parkway, a display that residents still enjoy every spring. The Luther Burbank club continues to be involved in Yonkers beautification (annual tree-lighting events, seasonal plantings) and partners with other local groups on conservation efforts. It remains one of the oldest garden clubs in the region.
