Dobbs Ferry Garden Club
yThe Garden Club of Dobbs Ferry is a community of passionate gardeners, nature lovers, and civic-minded individuals working together to enhance the beauty of our village and protect the environment. Founded over a century ago as a working gardeners’ group, they remain dedicated to our founding mission: to educate, beautify, and support ecological preservation at both the local and regional level.
Club embers have rolled up their sleeves for projects ranging from planting crab apple trees and designing pollinator pathways, to vegetable gardening, invasive species removal, and floral design. The also organize plant sales, educational workshops, and guest speaker events to inspire curiosity and share practical knowledge.
Through hands-on work and heartfelt commitment, they’ve given back to the community with time, funds, and expertise—always aiming to make a lasting impact.
As they look ahead, they continue to grow—not only in the garden, but in friendship, community connection, and a shared purpose to care for the natural world.
New members are always welcome—no matter your experience level, if you care about plants and your community, there’s a place for you here.
Notable Activities: For a century, this club has fulfilled its mission to educate, beautify, and conserve. The Dobbs Ferry club has planted flowering trees throughout the village, tends public gardens (including at the Mead House historic property), and actively supports pollinator pathway projects. It also gives back through scholarships – for example, offering a yearly scholarship for a girls’ leadership summer program. In June 2023, the Garden Club of Dobbs Ferry marked its centennial with special events highlighting its long service to the community.
