Parkway Homes / Parkway Gardens GC
Established during a time of great social and cultural change, the club became a gathering place for residents committed to beautifying their surroundings, cultivating gardens, and building strong neighborhood ties. It holds the distinction of being one of the earliest community garden clubs in the region, with a legacy deeply intertwined with the history and development of Greenburgh.
Over the decades, the club has been involved in numerous civic beautification projects, gardening workshops, and environmental education initiatives.
Notable Activities: This club has roots in one of Westchester’s first middle-class African-American neighborhoods and remains active in Greenburgh. It collaborates with the Greenburgh Arts & Culture Committee to host an annual fall flower show. The Parkway Homes/Gardens club also supports local causes – for example, it recently donated funds to programs at the Theodore D. Young Community Center. Its enduring presence (over 90 years) is a testament to community pride and resilience.
