Garden Club of Yorktown
Established in 1926, the Garden Club of Yorktown brings together plant enthusiasts of all experience levels—from beginners to master gardeners—to foster a love of plants and native gardening practices.
The club maintains five pollinator-friendly gardens and seasonal planters throughout the town, including bright pansies in spring, vibrant annuals in summer, and decorative greenery in winter. During the holiday season, members lead a wreath‑making workshop to adorn municipal buildings with festive, natural décor.
An annual Mother’s Day plant sale features native and perennial plants, hanging baskets, and more, carefully curated months in advance by the planning committee. The club also organizes a variety of year‑round events, including garden and farm tours, educational workshops, luncheons, and guest lectures
Notable Activities:
Founded on September 24, 1926, with a mission to promote gardening and civic beautification, we are excited to mark the Garden Club of Yorktown’s 100th Anniversary in 2026. For a century, our volunteers have helped our town bloom — and every project sparks a love of gardening.
Join us for “100 Years in Bloom: Honoring the Past, Planting the Future,” as we celebrate our history and work to brighten our environment for generations to come.

During this anniversary year, the Garden Club of Yorktown plans to “Plant 100 Trees” at Hilltop Hanover Farms, bury a time capsule, and host educational programs in addition to our regular beautification activities. We are also launching a poster contest, which will be open to all students in the Yorktown and Lakeland School Districts. Students (grades K-5 and 6-12) are invited to design a poster illustrating the theme “What Makes Yorktown Beautiful.” Submissions are due by April 1.
